Google Ads Implements 3 Strike Policy Rules
Google Ads implements 3 Strike policy rules: Google Ads has updated its account violation policy. The new 3-point rule will be introduced in June 2022.
If you’re an advertiser for Google Ads, you may see disapproved ads once in a lifetime. The rejection is becoming more and more automated, making it difficult to challenge without the help of Google employees.
In light of the surge in ad disapproval, Google has announced an update to enforce repeated disapproval violations. Enforcement will come into effect in June 2022.
What will Change
If you repeatedly violate certain policies, Google will strike your Google Ads account.
For clarity, strikes are not issued for all policies. The following policies have the warning system enabled:
⦁ Compensated sexual acts
⦁ Mail-order brides
⦁ Clickbait
⦁ Misleading ad design
⦁ Bail bond services
⦁ Call Directories, forwarding services
⦁ Credit repair services
⦁ Binary options
⦁ Personal loans
For certain policies affected by enforcement, your Google Ads account will receive up to three strikes. Google said the penalty will increase gradually with each warning.
How the Strike Works
Your account will be temporarily suspended due to the first and second strikes of your account.
Strike 1: Violation of a policy for which you’ve received one warning in 90 days. When this happens the account will be placed on a temporary hold for three days during which time ads won’t run.
Strike 2: Violation of a policy for which you’ve received a warning and a strike within 90 days. When this happens the offending ad account will be on temporary hold for 7 days. During this time, ads will not be able to run. This is the final warning that an account will receive.
Strike 3: Violation of a policy for which you’ve received two previous strikes within 90 days. Accounts will be suspended after three strikes.
If an account violates a policy, the account admin will receive an email informing them of the violation. After a warning, administrators will be required to correct the policy infringements and contact Google to be able to new run ads.
Without the proper experience, warnings and strikes can be very time consuming to remove or fix. It can take a few hours if not days of back and forth between you and google. If you receive more than one warning or violation, it will be much harder to explain your case and sometimes impossible to get them removed from your account.
The warning applies at the personal account level, not at the manager account (MCC) level.
How to Transmit a Google Strike
If you’re set up to receive email alerts from Google Ads and you’re using a specific account, you’ll receive an email notifying you of a warning or suspension.
Notifications about missing accounts are also displayed in the Warning and Strike UI. Below are examples of notifications you may receive.

Dealing with strikes and suspensions
If your account is temporarily suspended, you will need to fix the violations and denials. You will also need to submit a confirmation form.
By submitting the confirmation form to Google, you agree to the following (according to Google’s support article):
⦁ You are aware of the specific policy that alerted your account and have reviewed the policy in question. We also understand that further violations of such policies could lead to more serious actions, including account suspension. ..
⦁ They remove content and advertisements that violate those policies and ensure future content and advertisements comply with our policies.
⦁ Creating additional accounts or attempting to circumvent Google’s policy enforcement is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension.
If you believe you are not violating the policy, you can submit a complaint form here.
If the appeal is successful, the strike will be removed from your account and your account will be immediately unsuspended.
Summary
For bills that don`t suit into the above categories, you’ll probable be spared the account violations. However, it`s nevertheless a very good exercise to robotically test your account notifications.
If you spot any account violations, be proactive. Review, revise, or attraction the violations to stay in suitable account standing.
